Welcome to Watford Chess Club

Watford Chess Club meets at 7.30pm every Tuesday at the Watford Town & Country Club in Rosslyn Road. The venue page contains further details. The venue has a large, spacious hall upstairs and a bar selling good beer at low prices.

We are a large, friendly club with an informal atmosphere, and welcome players of all abilities. We play both casual games (just for fun) and serious games (for the more competitive souls among us). We enter six teams in the Hertfordshire Chess Association League. We also have our own internal Price Cup & Dobson Shield competitions, and each year we play a twenty board match (the Cheshire Board) against St Albans (which was held this year at St Albans on 25-Sep-2006).

We run a junior section, open to anyone from 5-16 years. It meets every Tuesday at the club from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.
